Join ACT NOW on Friday, January 22 from 12 noon – 1 p.m. as we publicly demonstrate our support for reproductive freedom, which is under attack in both versions of Congress’ health care bill. The demonstration will take place in Pleasanton and Fremont simultaneously

The Murder of Dr. George Tiller President Obama's Statement:

I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.

WHO WE ARE

Our ACT NOW Chapter began in 1974 as Tri-Valley NOW and has continued to take action locally to support:

Safe and legal abortion, reproductive health care and education, and the availability of effective birth control.

The elimination of sex-based wage and employment discrimination.

Adequate, affordable, quality child care and paid job-secured parental leave.

Equal education and Title IX enforcement.

Freedom for lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender people to responsibly determine their own lifestyles, having protection against discrimination, and having the full rights and responsibilities of marriage.
